Deconstruction…
My stats tell me that this pic posted on my tumblr over two years ago was (again) the most reposted and liked of all my pics in the last twelve months.

Why does one image stand out over another? The subject? The straight lines of the couch versus the curves of the legs and feet? The knee rising above the line of the couch versus the placement of the foot at lower right? The color choice I made in post? The under exposure?
Why the slight sheen on the skin, assisted by the choice of lighting? Would it have worked if the feet weren’t bare? Would it then be a shoe commercial?
I could go on… but you are looking at a finished image. As a photographer I have to think about all this things BEFORE taking the pic.
So should you if you want your photography to improve.
