From the article by Julie Greicius:
Gina Frangello’s views on writing sex and the importance of female friendship are hard to argue with. Her latest novel is A Life in Men.
“I think sex is one of the great universal truths of life. It is something almost all adult human beings on the planet do, and those few who don’t do it have complex stories behind why they don’t. Only something like eating or sleeping could be as universal as sex, and yet so many writers, particularly in the literary fiction domain, treat sex like an embarrassing, sloppily drunk uncle everyone should ignore and pretend not to notice, for fear of somehow making things worse.”
